1. Purpose and role of CasaFido

CasaFido is a portal dedicated to connecting people seeking a dog for foster care or responsible home placement with private owners or facilities (kennels, public bodies, associations) publishing placement opportunities.

The site operator provides an information society service consisting of hosting, content publication, and contact tools. CasaFido:

• does not sell animals and does not act as seller, transferor, or commercial intermediary;
• does not take part in choosing a dog, concluding agreements between parties, animal-related payments, or handover;
• does not publicly certify the legality, health or administrative authorisations, non-profit status, or accuracy of user content, except as required by applicable law for intermediary service providers.

2. Acceptance of these terms

Using the site, registering, and publishing content means you fully accept these terms and our privacy policy. If you do not agree, do not use the portal.

For certain features (e.g. registration, listing publication) we may require express acceptance of a specific version of these terms, recorded with date and version reference.

3. User requirements and accounts

You must be at least 18 and legally capable of entering into contracts. If you act for a facility, you declare you have authority to bind it. You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for all activity under your account.

CasaFido may refuse, suspend, or close an account at any time as set out in Article 4 below.

4. Administrator powers and moderation

The site administrator and authorised moderation staff may, at any time, in compliance with applicable law and without prior notice:

• suspend, limit, or block access to an account (user or facility);
• permanently close an account (deactivation or ban);
• remove, hide, or refuse listings, images, comments, messages, and other content;
• refuse new registrations or new publications.

Such action is permitted where content or conduct is deemed, at the administration’s discretion (subject to mandatory law):

• unlawful or potentially criminal (including illegal animal trade, fraud, abuse);
• offensive, defamatory, or discriminatory;
• contrary to these terms or applicable law;
• inconsistent with CasaFido’s purpose: responsible placement, reducing time in shelters, animal welfare, no commercial trade in animals;
• the subject of a user report or internal or automated moderation support (without implying any guarantee of compliance).

By registering, publishing content, or using portal services, you expressly accept this authority.

5. Listings: foster and responsible placement only

Listings on CasaFido must relate exclusively to foster care, responsible home placement, temporary care, or non-commercial care in a facility — never commercial sale of dogs.

Prohibited:

• stating sale prices or commercial consideration for the animal;
• using sales language or disguised commercial offers;
• publishing misleading content, abusive duplicates, or material harmful to animal welfare.

Publisher responsibility. Anyone publishing a listing is solely responsible for the data provided and compliance with applicable law. In particular, for distance sale or transfer of companion animals, Italian law (including Legislative Decree 135/2022 and EU rules on welfare and identification) imposes obligations on the publisher (e.g. animal or dam identification, veterinary documentation where required). CasaFido is not the seller or transferor and does not replace the publisher’s duties. Listings that appear to be commercial sales may be removed and accounts sanctioned.

6. User content and intellectual property

By publishing text, images, or other materials, you grant CasaFido a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence limited to operating the service (hosting, display, moderation, backup). You remain the owner of content you upload provided you have the rights to do so and do not infringe third-party rights.

You must not upload unlawful content, unnecessary third-party personal data, or copyright-protected material without permission.

7. User reports

Registered users may report content they believe is unlawful or contrary to these terms using site features. CasaFido reviews reports with professional diligence; a report does not automatically require removal, but the administration may act promptly where necessary.

In case of serious or repeated violations, CasaFido may remove content and suspend or close accounts without prior notice. Reporter identity is not disclosed to the reported party except as required by law or authority order.

8. Limitation of liability

CasaFido does not guarantee continuous availability, error-free operation, or the outcome of contacts between users. To the extent permitted by law, the operator’s liability for damage arising from use of the portal is limited to wilful misconduct or gross negligence and, for consumers, mandatory applicable rules.

Relationships between someone seeking a dog and a publisher (private or facility) remain outside CasaFido’s control.

9. Third-party links and content

The site may contain links to external sites (e.g. affiliate products, facility websites). CasaFido does not control them and is not responsible for them. Affiliate banners (e.g. Amazon) are labelled as required by law.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The published version on the site shows date and revision number. For material changes, where required we may notify registered users and require renewed acceptance before continuing to use features that require it.

11. Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms are governed by Italian law, subject to mandatory rules of the consumer’s country of residence where applicable. For consumer disputes, mandatory jurisdiction rules apply; otherwise, courts at the service provider’s place of business unless mandatory law provides otherwise.
